Parsva Ekadashi
Parsva — 'side' — names the day Vishnu turns over in his four-month cosmic sleep, rolling from his left flank to his right on the serpent Shesha. It falls in Bhadrapada Shukla, the midpoint of Chaturmasya, and is the one Ekadashi devoted to Vamana, his dwarf-brahmin avatar.
Parivartini Ekadashi
The Ekadashi when Vishnu, mid-way through his four-month cosmic sleep on Shesha, turns from one side to the other — hence 'Parivartini', the turning. Falling on Bhadrapada Shukla 11, it is also called Vamana Ekadashi, linking the day to Vishnu's dwarf avatar and King Bali.
Shravana Nakshatra
Shravana is the 22nd lunar mansion — three stars in the eagle constellation Aquila (α, β, γ Aquilae) whose symbol is three footprints, recalling Vishnu's three strides as Vamana that measured the worlds. The Moon transits it once each lunar month in Makara (Capricorn).
Ekadashi
Ekadashi honours a goddess, not just a date. She sprang from Vishnu's body to kill the demon Mura while he slept, and in gratitude Vishnu declared that fasting on the eleventh tithi of each fortnight would burn away sin — a vow kept twice a month.
