Festival Date, Tithi & Muhurat
Hindu festivals are tied to a specific Tithi, not a fixed date — so the day shifts every year and even varies slightly across cities.
Open the Panchanga for the festival day to see the exact Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana and Shubh Muhurat for pooja in your location.
The Dharmayana app keeps track of all upcoming festivals on the Hindu calendar and reminds you in advance.
Personalised Astrology Around Festivals
Festivals are also a good time to look at your kundali — many families plan sankalp, donations or new beginnings around them.
Inside the app you can:
- Generate your personal Vedic kundali
- Talk to a Jyotisha for guidance around career, relationships or health
- Run kundali matching before fixing a marriage during the festival season
All of this is available inside the Dharmayana app — no fixed schedule, use it whenever you need it.
Frequently Asked Questions
When is Ekadashi in 2026?
Ekadashi 2026 falls on Thursday, 5 November 2026. Ekadashi tithi runs from 11:03 AM, 4 Nov to 10:36 AM, 5 Nov IST, as calculated for Ujjain. Times shift by a few minutes for other cities.
What is Ekadashi?
Ekadashi honours a goddess, not just a date. She sprang from Vishnu's body to kill the demon Mura while he slept, and in gratitude Vishnu declared that fasting on the eleventh tithi of each fortnight would burn away sin — a vow kept twice a month.
Why is Ekadashi observed?
The Padma Purana sources all 24 Ekadashi stories and gives each one a distinct name and reward — Mokshada (liberation for ancestors), Nirjala (kept without even water, said to equal all 24 combined), Devshayani and Prabodhini (which bookend Vishnu's four-month sleep on Shesha). The food rule is unusually strict: no grains, cereals or pulses, and even powdered hing is avoided because it is cut with wheat flour; sesame is allowed only on Shat-tila Ekadashi. The fast actually spans three days — a light afternoon meal on Dashami, full fast on Ekadashi, and parana (break-fast) after sunrise on Dwadashi. Smarta householders and Vaishnavas sometimes fast on different days; ascetics, widows and those seeking moksha take the later Vaishnava date.
Which prarthanas are recited on Ekadashi?
Vishnu Shodasa Nama Stotram, Vishnu Dhyana Shloka, Dwadashakshara Mantra and Vishnu Shanthakaram Mantra are recited on Ekadashi. You can listen to them with audio on this page.
