Vamana Jayanti
Vishnu's first human-form avatar — a dwarf Brahmin boy — appeared at midday on Bhadrapada Shukla Dwadashi. Unlike most Jayantis tied to a birth nakshatra, Vamana Jayanti is fixed to the Abhijit muhurta at noon, when Aditi is said to have given birth to him.

About
The day re-enacts a gift, not a battle. At King Bali's Ashwamedha yajna on the Narmada, the boy asked for just three paces of land. Bali's guru Shukracharya saw through the disguise and slipped into the spout of the water-pot to block the vow — Vamana pierced it with a blade of darbha grass, costing Shukracharya an eye (Bhagavata Purana 8.20). With the third step Vamana sent Bali to Sutala, a netherworld, but promised to stand guard at his door himself. This is why Vishnu is said to leave Vaikuntha during Chaturmasya. Worship is done at noon, not dawn: a small silver or gold idol holding a parasol, water-pot and staff is bathed, offered curd-rice, and the dakshina is given to a Brahmin boy — the giver, for one day, taking Bali's role.
