Mahalaya Amavasya
The closing day of Pitru Paksha and the one Shraddha date that covers everyone — ancestors whose death-tithi is forgotten, who left no descendants, or who died unmarried. The Garuda Purana names it the fallback day for the whole lineage, offered with sesame, water and kusha grass.
Bathukamma

Bhadrapada Mahalaya Amavasya
The closing day of the fortnight Hindus reserve for ancestors. The Garuda Purana names this new moon as the one occasion when a single Shraddha appeases every forefather — known and unknown, named and forgotten — which is why it is also called Sarvapitri or Sarvapitra Moksha Amavasya.
Ashvayuja Amavasya
The new-moon night that closes the lunar month of Ashvayuja — the same night the lamps of Deepavali are lit. In the south it is the evening of Lakshmi-Kubera puja at home; in Bengal it is Kali Puja, when the darkest tithi of the year is given over to the goddess of the night.
Amavasya
Amavasya is the moonless night that Hindu tradition reserves for the dead. Of the 96 occasions scripture lists for Shraddha, twelve are these monthly new moons — believed to be when the pitrus (ancestors) draw closest to the living and accept offerings of water and sesame.
Chitra Nakshatra
Chitra is the 14th lunar mansion — the bright star Spica — whose presiding deity is Tvashtar, the divine artisan also known as Vishvakarman. Its symbol is a shining pearl, and the Moon transits it roughly once a month. Panchanga tradition lists it among the 'good muhurat' stars for most auspicious work.
