Param Ekadashi
Parama Ekadashi is one of only two Ekadashis that exist solely because of the Hindu leap month — Adhika Masa, dedicated to Vishnu as Purushottama. It falls in that month's waning fortnight and comes around just once every three years or so, marked above all as a fast against poverty.

About
The vrat katha is told by Krishna to Arjuna. In the city of Kampilya lived a Brahmin named Sumedha, pious but desperately poor; his equally devoted wife was counselled by Sage Kaundinya to keep the Parama Ekadashi fast. Wealth and grain followed, and the story names two more beneficiaries — Shiva, who through this vrat gained the power to appoint Kubera lord of riches, and King Harishchandra, who recovered his lost son, wife and kingdom. Kaundinya also prescribes a harder option called the Pancharatri Vrat: a waterless fast kept for five days starting on Parama Ekadashi morning. Its companion is Padmini Ekadashi in the same month's bright fortnight; together they are the two extra Ekadashis that take the year's count from 24 to 26.

The Dharmayana app keeps track of all upcoming festivals on the Hindu calendar and reminds you in advance.

Personalised Astrology Around Festivals

Festivals are also a good time to look at your kundali — many families plan sankalp, donations or new beginnings around them.

Inside the app you can:

  • Generate your personal Vedic kundali
  • Talk to a Jyotisha for guidance around career, relationships or health
  • Run kundali matching before fixing a marriage during the festival season

All of this is available inside the Dharmayana app — no fixed schedule, use it whenever you need it.
