Shani Trayodashi
A Pradosh vrat with a twist: when Trayodashi twilight lands on Saturday, the day Shani rules, devotees pray to Shiva — Shani's own guru in scripture — to soften Saturn's grip. Worship is done in Pradosh Kaal, roughly 90 minutes either side of sunset.

About
Shani Pradosh is held especially powerful against Saturn's heavier burdens — Kala Sarpa Dosha and Pitru Dosha — because scripture names Shiva as Shani's teacher, so Shiva's blessing can lighten what his student inflicts. Among the seven weekday Pradoshas, the Saturday one is the one said to break the bondage of karma. The traditional katha is that of Prince Dharmagupta of Vidarbha. After enemies seized his kingdom and jailed his father, he fled and was sheltered by a widow who kept the Pradosh vrat. He took up the fast himself. Lord Shiva later appeared in the dream of a Gandharva king and ordered him to give his daughter Anshumati in marriage to Dharmagupta — through whom the prince regained his throne. Devotees read this katha at the sunset puja; without it the fast is held incomplete.

Festival Date, Tithi & Muhurat

Hindu festivals are tied to a specific Tithi, not a fixed date — so the day shifts every year and even varies slightly across cities.

The Dharmayana app keeps track of all upcoming festivals on the Hindu calendar and reminds you in advance.

Personalised Astrology Around Festivals

Festivals are also a good time to look at your kundali — many families plan sankalp, donations or new beginnings around them.

Inside the app you can:

  • Generate your personal Vedic kundali
  • Talk to a Jyotisha for guidance around career, relationships or health
  • Run kundali matching before fixing a marriage during the festival season

All of this is available inside the Dharmayana app — no fixed schedule, use it whenever you need it.
