Marks the birth of Ravidas — a 15th-century leatherworker-poet from Varanasi whose hymns sit inside the Sikh Guru Granth Sahib. Falls on Magha Purnima (the full moon of Magha). Devotees walk a Nagar Kirtan through the streets and gather at Seer Goverdhanpur, his birthplace near Varanasi.

Ravidas imagined a city he called Begampura — literally 'the place without sorrow' — where there are no taxes, no rulers, and no caste. That vision, set down in his poems, is why his birthday became a rallying day for the Ravidassia and wider Dalit communities, not just a saint's anniversary. About forty of his hymns were included in the Adi Granth when Guru Arjan compiled it in 1604, so the day is also marked at the Golden Temple in Amritsar. Ravidas openly wore the janeu (sacred thread) and tilak normally reserved for Brahmins — a quiet but pointed protest against caste rules on who could approach God. In 2010 the Ravidassia community formally separated from Sikhism and adopted its own scripture, the Amrit Bani Guru Ravidass.
