About Panduranga
At Pandharpur on the Bhima river stands a dark stone image unlike any other Krishna: arms akimbo, both feet planted on a single brick. The brick was thrown by Pundalik, who asked the Lord to wait while he served his aged parents — and Vithoba has been waiting ever since. Adi Shankaracharya's Panduranga Ashtakam hails him as the visible sign of Parabrahman; the name itself means 'the pale-limbed one.' Maharashtra's Varkari saints — Jnaneshwar, Namdev, Eknath, Tukaram — staked their path on simply chanting his name. Every Ashadhi Ekadashi, pilgrims walk hundreds of miles to reach his feet.
