The Dharmayana app keeps track of all upcoming festivals on the Hindu calendar and reminds you in advance.
Personalised Astrology Around Festivals
Festivals are also a good time to look at your kundali — many families plan sankalp, donations or new beginnings around them.
Inside the app you can:
- Generate your personal Vedic kundali
- Talk to a Jyotisha for guidance around career, relationships or health
- Run kundali matching before fixing a marriage during the festival season
All of this is available inside the Dharmayana app — no fixed schedule, use it whenever you need it.
Frequently Asked Questions
When is Nagula Chavithi in 2026?
Nagula Chavithi 2026 falls on Thursday, 12 November 2026.
What is Nagula Chavithi?
The southern answer to Nag Panchami — observed on Karthika Shukla Chaturthi, the fourth day after Diwali, when Andhra and Karnataka households visit anthills (putta) to pour milk for the resident cobra. Married women keep the vrat for their children's protection.
Why is Nagula Chavithi observed?
Most of India worships the Nagas in Shravana. Andhra Pradesh keeps its own day, four lunar days after Diwali, at the start of Karthika — the month sacred to Shiva, whose neck-ornament is Vasuki. Women rise before dawn, fast, and walk to an anthill in a field or temple grove. Cow's milk is poured into the mound, along with raw eggs, turmeric, jaggery and sesame — fed not to a carved idol but to the live snake believed to dwell inside. The puja invokes twelve named Nagas, including Ananta, Vasuki, Shesha, Takshaka and Kaliya. The prayer is specific: that the cobra spare the woman's children from snakebite and skin diseases, and bless them with offspring of their own. This children-centred vow is what distinguishes Nagula Chavithi from the brother-sister Nag Panchami of the north.
What are the other names for Nagula Chavithi?
Nagula Chavithi is also known as Nag Chaturthi.
Which prarthanas are recited on Nagula Chavithi?
Navanaga Stotra and Sarp Gayatri Mantra are recited on Nagula Chavithi. You can listen to them with audio on this page.
