During travel or journey

Two short protection verses for the road. The first pictures Rama as a young warrior in armor, sword, bow, and arrows at his side, with Lakshmana beside him — and asks the brothers to guard the traveler who turns to them each day. The second names the five emblems Vishnu carries: the forest garland (vanamala), mace, Sharanga bow, conch, discus, and the sword Nandaka — and asks Narayana, in that fully armed form, to shield the journey. The verse from the Vishnu Sahasranama closing is a classic pre-departure chant.
