Maa Baglamukhi
About Maa Baglamukhi
Baglamukhi is the eighth of the ten Mahavidyas, the tantric goddess who stuns enemies into silence. Her image is unmistakable: golden-skinned, draped in yellow, seated on a throne in a sea of yellow lotuses, gripping a demon's tongue with her left hand while her right swings a club. Legend says she rose from the Haridra Sarovara (Turmeric Lake) in Saurashtra to calm a cosmic storm threatening creation. Her mantra commands her to paralyze an enemy's speech, mind, and step. Devotees facing court cases, slander, or hostile rivals invoke her at Datia's Pitambara Peeth in yellow robes on Bagalamukhi Jayanti.
