About Lalita
Lalita Tripura Sundari sits at the center of the Sri Chakra, the nine-triangle yantra that is the core symbol of Sri Vidya worship. Her four arms carry a noose of attachment, a goad of anger, a sugarcane bow standing for the mind, and five flower arrows that are the five senses. She is crimson-skinned, three-eyed, and crowned with rubies. The Brahmanda Purana tells how she rode into battle on a chariot-fortress and slew the demon Bhandasura, born from the ashes of burnt Kamadeva. Her 1,000 names, the Lalita Sahasranama, are chanted on Fridays and through Navaratri; at Kanchipuram she is worshipped as Kamakshi.
